Grant Granted!
For many years, we have dabbled with grant applications, praying and hoping that we would find favor in the eyes of both God and man. On June 3rd, we received the much-anticipated phone call and heard the AMAZING news that we were approved for a $94,000 grant, made generously possible by the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust Foundation! This grant is for remodeling the Bus Barn, the purchase that was made generously possible by many of you just a year ago. This whole land and building acquisition, along with the new grant, has been an adventure in humility and God's perfect timing. We now have the precious responsibility of spending this money wisely. Pray for us, will you?
WARNING!
High School Adventure Camp is almost full!
This has always been one of our most popular camps and this year is proof of that. If you are planning on attending, you must sign up in the next week or two, or there may not be room for you this year. All you need to do is send in a registration form with your $50 non-refundable deposit (or register online) and we'll reserve a place for you! Hurry!
All is not lost, however! I would like for you to consider attending our Home Ec/Man Camp next week (starting Sunday), which is being directed this year by Oatmeal & Rougie (Jason & Alicia Moss). Hundreds of hours have gone into the planning of this camp and its plethora of electives to choose from. If you would take the time to look at the Man Camp camper packet or the Home Ec Camp camper packet, you will read about the opportunities and will wonder, as I am, how so much can be packed into so few days! Another life-changing, fun-filled opportunity for 6th - 12th graders!
We Need You!
We're looking for some Very Important Volunteers. Jonah Ministries is extremely dependent on those who give of their time and talent to our camp. Our volunteers help with mailings, all kinds of repair work, kitchen needs, building projects, office help, etc. We are still (desperately) looking for groups of four-six people each summer weekend to clean our buildings between each camp. You would need to love to scrub and vacuum-and bring your own lunch, so that our entire staff can rest up before the next camp. The staffies only get about 24 hours off each week and so this ministry would be GREATLY appreciated by each of them!
If you're interested in coming for a day to lend a hand, please contact Beki at 509-395-2900 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Home-style Range Stove Needed ASAP!
Our Home Ec Camp starts Sunday, and we'd love to have a home-style kitchen stove and oven that we can set up and use for cooking lessons outside of the kitchen. Do you have one sitting in your garage that needs a home? Give us a call!
More Online Than Ever Before!
Why don't you humor me and take just a few minutes to browse our website?
I promise that you'll find out a few things you didn't know-and you'll especially enjoy clicking through our summer camps, particularly the Camper Packets. And you'll read about the amazing programs available for your kids this summer. Well, take five-and get blessed!
Prime Retreat Weekend Open!
Looking for a place to host your winter retreat next year? The weekend of February 18-20, 2011, is now available! Because this is such a prime weekend, we are only able to offer it to a group of 60+ people. You bring the guests, and we'll provide the home-cooked meals, snowmobiles & innertubes, caving, chapel space, and much more! Does this sound like you? Check out the Retreats page of our website and let us know!
Some Words from Rick Warren:
"God will build your faith by planting a dream within you. But that dream will require a decision of faith, and then God will stretch your faith... God guides your faith through delays, difficulties, and dead ends, so that when he delivers you-God gets all the credit! Look back to see how God led you through a path of faith, expanding and increasing your trust of him with every step, making your faith and confidence stronger."
God planted a dream many years ago in the heart and mind of Grandma (Bernice) Duke; that dream spread to Jeff and me in 1996, and now we're fourteen years into this adventure called Jonah Ministries. There have certainly been delays, difficulties and dead ends-and now we can look back at God's leading and provision, and the fact that our feeble faith is just a bit stronger and our admiration of our Savior so much greater. To God be the glory! Great things He has done!
Praises
1. Praise God for the generosity of the trustees at M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust!
2. Praise God for the leadership staff on board for this summer-for their love for Jesus, their creativity, and their heart for bringing kids to Christ through
fun, Christian camps and retreats!
3. Praise God for this month's provision through gifts and groups!
4. Praise for winter weather that makes us appreciate spring sunshineeven more. Hmmm. I think there's a spiritual lesson in this somewhere.
5. Thanks to all of you who have purchased and delivered items from our needs list.
6. Thanks to Mike for the use of your dump trailer, OTEA for helping clear brush in the Challenge Course area, Marnie & Molly for planning the Reunion, and so many others.
7. Thanks to all of you involved in planning and directing summer camps. You are simply amazing!
Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our camps for safety, fun, presence of the Holy Spirit, unity among the staff, clear minds and soft hearts. Would you consider committing to praying for our summer camps daily from June 12th - August 8th?
2. Pray for wisdom for our camp leadership-for balance of program and family, and for precious times of rest and rejuvenation.
3. Pray for continued provision through the summer months. It's an expensive time of year.
4. Pray that God would increase our faith, expand our vision(and our boundaries), and deepen our love and understanding of Him.
5. Pray that we would listen intently to God, our Camp Director, and follow His plan for each detail of summer camp.
